DIY Plywood Floating Shelves for the Laundry Room

DIY Plywood Floating Shelves for our laundry room. Check out the video below to see how we built these floating shelves out of plywood. I used 1 by lumber to attach to the wall for the plywood to rest on and then used another 1 by board on the face of the shelf which hides the plywood edge but more importantly it adds the needed stability over a longer spanse of shelf. This has helped our laundry room organization so much versus the rolling laundry basket that was always in the way! These new shelves help organize the laundry room. We also added extra storage with the upper shelf and smaller baskets. Links below to the baskets! Building floating shelves like these makes for an easy one day project. I like the simplicity of using plywood for shelves because it is super strong and makes a nice smooth shelf. Plywood shelves are easy to make and they look great too. Using the Kreg Rip-cut to cut the plywood makes this project that much easier by getting a consistent cut. I love the way the stained shelf looks. The stain on the shelves help prevent scratches and scuffs versus painted shelves. We love how our laundry room makeover turned out. You could even make this a laundry countertop if you have front load appliances.
